An attachment changes the hydraulic duty of a Kobelco more than owners expect. A bucket works with a smooth, roughly sinusoidal load; a hydraulic breaker or shear works in sharp shock pulses at a far higher duty cycle, with a hard dead-head condition at the end of every stroke. The pumps, the cooler and the return circuit were sized for the first duty and are now asked to do the second. Fitting the tool is easy; protecting the circuit that drives it decides whether the machine is still working next season. Guangzhou Shenyue Machinery Technology Co., Ltd. has supplied Kobelco hydraulic parts since 2007, and this guide sets out what to protect first.
Start with the duty circuit, not the breaker
Most Kobelco excavators carry one or two lines plumbed for attachment work, closed with a stop valve from the factory on construction-spec machines. Before the tool is fitted, check which circuit it will run from, whether it is single-acting or two-way, and whether the machine's flow and pressure settings match the tool's specification. A breaker built for a 180 bar, 130 litre/min circuit will not perform on a machine set for a different duty, and forcing it there loads the pump unnecessarily. Confirm the settings twice: against the tool's data sheet, then on the machine.
The four things a breaker punishes
Four components absorb the shock duty. The first is the return filter, which sees far more contamination once a breaker is working, because chisels and breaker seals shed material continuously — a bypassed or overloaded return filter passes that debris straight into the tank. The second is the hydraulic oil cooler, now working against oil that is hotter and more agitated than before. The third is the pilot circuit, whose filter is often the first thing to clog when a new circuit is introduced. The fourth is the accumulator, where fitted, which absorbs the pressure spikes the rest of the circuit is not built to take. Neglect any one and the symptom appears somewhere else — usually as a hot, slow machine rather than a breaker fault.
| Component | What the shock duty does | Protective action |
|---|---|---|
| Return filter | Loads up fast with breaker debris | Shorten the interval, use the correct element |
| Oil cooler | Higher heat load, blocked fins | Clean fins, verify oil temperature |
| Pilot filter | First to clog on a new circuit | Replace with the first service |
| Accumulator | Absorbs spikes; loses pre-charge | Check pre-charge, replace if flat |
| Hoses and couplings | Fatigue at the hammer end | Inspect, replace on a schedule |
Don't forget the pilot side
The pilot circuit is the most commonly forgotten part of a breaker installation, because it has nothing to do with the tool itself. A breaker's on-off valve is usually operated from a pedal or a hand valve that taps pilot pressure, and every time that circuit is introduced the pilot filter starts collecting debris from the new fittings and hoses. On our list the hydraulic components range carries the pilot inline filter YN50V00020F1 and the hydraulic pipe filter LS50V01001S001, and the filters and lubricants range covers the return elements. Replace the pilot filter with the first return filter after an attachment goes on, not later.
What the circuit actually needs to be told
Compensating for a breaker is not only about filtration. Some installations need a dedicated return line run straight to the tank, so the shock oil does not pass back through the main return filter and cooler at all. Some need an accumulator teed into the line to smooth pressure spikes. Some need the duty relief setting trimmed to suit the tool. These are decisions made from the tool's specification and the machine's flow, not from a generic kit. Where lines must be replaced, stock includes hoses LC05P00043S032 / LC05P00043S002C and the reducer YN32W01060P1 / AE3994A / AP3994B.
Heat is the early warning
The first sign that a breaker is overloading the circuit is not a failure at all — it is hydraulic oil temperature climbing past what the machine normally ran at. A creeping oil temperature means the cooler, the return path or the relief setting needs attention while it is still a maintenance item rather than a pump. Cooling support for high-duty machines sits in the cooling and air-conditioning range, including coolers such as YN05P00058S002 and LQ05P00071F1 and the intercooler YN05P01439P1C / LQ05P01309P2C.
How we supply
Guangzhou Shenyue Machinery Technology Co., Ltd. has specialised in Kobelco since 2007, with 4 warehouses over 1000 m² in Guangzhou, 3,000+ part types on the shelf and 100,000+ part numbers available to order through original supply channels. Shenyue is an independent supplier and is not an authorized dealer of Kobelco Construction Machinery Co., Ltd.; for Kobelco, Hino, Isuzu, Yanmar, Cummins, Kawasaki, Nabtesco, KYB and KPM we supply genuine parts ordered through original supply channels alongside quality replacement alternatives, at prices close to agent level, and the five brands we hold formal authorization for — Mitsubishi, Garrett, TONGMYUNG, Marusan and NIKURA — are named on every quotation. Buyers who run a mixed fleet and want attachment, undercarriage and wear parts consolidated into one shipment can compare the wider multi-brand export catalogue at corbayparts.com, the same company's international trade site, while this page stays focused on Kobelco machines. Published Kobelco machine data is a useful cross-reference when confirming duty-circuit specifications.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I fit any breaker to a Kobelco excavator?
Physically yes, but the circuit has to be matched. Check the machine's duty flow and pressure against the breaker's specification, confirm which circuit the tool will run from, and decide whether the installation needs a dedicated return line, an accumulator or a relief adjustment.
Which filters do I replace first after fitting a breaker?
The return filter and the pilot filter. Breaker work sheds debris continuously, so the return element loads far faster than on bucket duty, and the pilot filter clogs first on a newly introduced circuit. Replace both at the first service after commissioning.
Why does my Kobelco run hot after fitting a hammer?
Almost always the return path plus the cooler. Shock duty raises the heat load, and a return filter that is loading up or a cooler with blocked fins cannot shed it. Check oil temperature at the same point each day and confirm the relief setting before assuming a pump fault.
What should I send to quote breaker circuit parts?
The machine model and serial, the attachment's flow and pressure data, photographs of the duty circuit and its stop valves, and your oil temperature. Guangzhou Shenyue Machinery Technology Co., Ltd. quotes the package with each grade declared.
