Kobelco machines run HINO engines across the range, and while the families look similar on the outside, they share almost nothing inside. The three families you will meet
Across the machines we supply, three HINO families cover the majority of enquiries:
- J05E — the four-cylinder family used in the SK200-8 class. A very common enquiry base: turbochargers, injectors, cylinder head gaskets, oil pumps and crankshaft assemblies are all regularly quoted for it.
- J08E — the six-cylinder family used in the SK350 class, with a longer service list again: main bearings, connecting rod bearings, alternators, water pumps and common rail assemblies.
- P11C — the large-displacement family recorded against the SK460-8 class in our stock, where the enquiry volume is dominated by filters, oil coolers and cooling system service.
The same family, different suffix
The second layer of confusion is inside a single family. Our records for J05E applications include turbocharger references 787873-5001S / VH241004631A / CSP1VH17201E0A00 / VH17201E0523 for the SK200-8, and separately VH16027E0050 / VHS166913740 and VHS166913730, which are logged for other J05E applications. They are all J05E items — they are simply not the same item. The suffix and the infix carry the application, so a "J05E turbo" is not a specification, it is a starting point.

Where the money actually goes
On the J05E class, the highest-value decisions are turbocharger replacement (rebuild versus new assembly), injector and common rail work, and the top-end rebuild — head gasket, bolts, rocker cover gasket. On the J08E class the same decisions apply with a bigger price tag per line, and alternators and water pumps join the list earlier because the machines work harder. On the P11C class the routine is filter-driven: drain, filter and cooling-system discipline protects an expensive engine far better than any repair.
Two practical rules hold across all three families. Genuine-through-original-channel and OEM-quality lines are the safe default for internal engine parts, because the tolerance cost of a poor fit shows up as a second failure. And the aftermarket filter question should be answered deliberately — a cheap filter is the least expensive part on the invoice and the most expensive one when the engine fails.
