Fuel-system faults are the most commonly misread failures on any excavator. Rough running, hard starting, a drop in power under load or a fault code that keeps returning are usually blamed on the injection system, when the cause often sits upstream: a loaded filter, a water separator doing its job and nobody draining it, or a suction control valve that has drifted out of its commanded position. By the time the symptom looks like an injector problem, the injectors may have been the victim rather than the cause. Guangzhou Shenyue Machinery Technology Co., Ltd. supplies the whole chain — filtration, control valves and pumps — and this guide explains how the parts relate to each other.
The filtration chain, in order
Fuel travels from the tank through a water separator, then the primary and secondary filters, before it reaches the high-pressure pump. Each stage has a different job: the separator removes water and heavy contamination before it can reach anything expensive, the primary filter catches coarse particles, and the secondary filter protects the pump and injectors at the micron level. A water separator that is never drained stops separating, and water reaches the pump. Our stock list carries the separator assembly LG21P01003F2, catalogued for the SK75 class, and fuel filters such as VH23304EV360 catalogued for SK200-class machines and VH23300E0550 for SK-10 generation machines — the filter reference follows the engine, so the machine serial decides it.
The suction control valve
On common-rail engines the suction control valve regulates the fuel quantity entering the high-pressure pump, and it does the job the injection pump's governor once did. It is a precision part sitting in a fuel path, which is why it is so sensitive to filtration quality. A contaminated SCV sticks or wears, rail pressure drifts from its target, and the machine responds with rough idle, power loss under load or a pressure-deviation code. Our references include the SCV valve 0928400742 / VA32G6107020 / VA32G6107080 and the SCV suction valve kit 294009-1221 / VHS4226E0061 / VH04226E0041. Replacing an SCV is a fraction of the cost of a pump or injector set, which is why diagnosing filtration first pays.
Fuel pumps by engine family
| Engine family | Commonly quoted pump references | Note |
|---|---|---|
| Hino J05E | VH22100E0030 | Live stock row; confirm by plate |
| Hino J08 | VH22100E0025 / VH227301340A | Live stock row |
| Hino P11C | VH22100E0390 / VHS227301240 / VH22100E0361 | Live stock row, multi-marking |
| Pipes and lines | VA32G6103900 (fuel pipe to common rail, D04FR); VA32G6103700 | Live stock rows |
Pumps, pipes and lines are quoted from the engine number rather than the machine model, because the same excavator model carried more than one engine across its production run.
Symptoms and the order to test them in
Start with the cheapest layer and work inward. Drain and inspect the water separator, then change the filters — a filter that collapses or shows water tells you the story before any diagnostic work begins. Then check rail pressure against target under load; if it tracks low while the SCV command is plausible, the SCV or pump is suspect. Only after the supply side is proven clean does it make sense to discuss injectors. On machines working from drums or older storage tanks, contamination is a constant risk, and the filtration chain is the only thing standing between it and the injection system.
How we supply
Guangzhou Shenyue Machinery Technology Co., Ltd. has specialised in Kobelco parts since 2007, with 4 warehouses over 1000 m² in Guangzhou, 3,000+ part types on the shelf and 100,000+ part numbers available to order through original supply channels. Shenyue is an independent supplier and is not an authorized dealer of Kobelco Construction Machinery Co., Ltd.; for Kobelco, Hino, Isuzu, Yanmar, Cummins, Kawasaki, Nabtesco, KYB and KPM we supply genuine parts ordered through original supply channels alongside quality replacement alternatives, at prices close to agent level, and the five brands we hold formal authorization for — Mitsubishi, Garrett, TONGMYUNG, Marusan and NIKURA — are named on every quotation. See the SK200 class page and browse filters and lubricants; Hino's published engine data at hino-global.com is a useful cross-reference for J05E and J08E service intervals.
Frequently Asked Questions
How often should the water separator be drained?
Daily on machines working in humid conditions or from drums, and at every service otherwise. The separator only removes water while it has somewhere to put it — once the bowl is full, water passes downstream to the pump. Guangzhou Shenyue Machinery Technology Co., Ltd. supplies separator assemblies such as LG21P01003F2 when a unit has been run saturated for too long.
Could a bad filter cause a fault code that looks like an injector problem?
Yes, and it is one of the most common misdiagnoses. A restricted filter or a stuck SCV drops rail pressure, and the controller reports a pressure deviation that points at the injection system. Change filters and inspect the SCV references 0928400742 / VA32G6107020 / VA32G6107080 before injectors are condemned.
Why does the same SK200 model show different fuel filter numbers?
Because the filter follows the engine, not the machine name. VH23304EV360 is catalogued for SK200-class machines and VH23300E0550 for SK-10 generation machines in our own stock list. Send the engine number and a photograph of the filter head, and the correct reference is confirmed.
Do you supply the fuel pump as a unit or as internal parts?
Both routes exist depending on the fault. Where the pump is worn and the supply side is proven clean, the assembly is quoted; where the failure is confined to the suction control valve or its kit, that is quoted instead — a fraction of the cost and the reason we ask for rail-pressure data before quoting.
