The expensive parts of a hydraulic system — pumps, motors, valves — are usually the victims of a problem that started somewhere cheaper. Contamination enters through the tank, and the tank is where the first line of defence sits: the breather that lets the reservoir breathe without admitting dust, the return filter that catches what the circuit brings back, and the suction strainer that protects the pump on the way out. When any one of those is neglected or fitted with the wrong element, the whole system pays. Guangzhou Shenyue Machinery Technology Co., Ltd. supplies the tank circuit as a group, and this guide explains how the parts relate.

The three paths into and out of the tank

Hydraulic oil leaves the tank through the suction line, protected by a strainer or a coarse element, and returns through the return line, filtered on the way back. Air moves in the opposite direction: as the oil level rises and falls, the reservoir breathes through a breather, and every breath is an opportunity for airborne dust to enter the oil. In dusty work — quarry, demolition, dry earthmoving — the breather is a filter in its own right, and a blocked or missing breather element either lets contamination in or pressurises the tank until seals weep.

Return filtration is where the numbers are counted

Return filters do the bulk of the continuous cleaning work, because the entire circuit flow passes through them every cycle. Our stock list carries several families, including LS52V01006R210 / LS52V01006R200, YN52V01008S005, YN52V01025R110 / YN52V01025R100 and the hydraulic return filter YR52V01002P2. The reference follows the tank and machine generation rather than the machine class, so the serial is what confirms the element — the same nominal machine model was built with more than one tank arrangement across its production life.

What the symptoms tell you

Pump noise that rises as oil warms.Usually aeration or a restricted suction side — check the strainer and the suction hose joints before blaming the pump.
Sluggish functions and hot oil.A loaded return filter raises system temperature and slows response; oil temperature is an early warning that costs nothing to read.
Valve spools that stick intermittently.Fine contamination reaching the control valve — the return filter is failing at its job or has been bypassed.
Oil weeping at the tank top.Often a breather that no longer breathes, so the tank pressurises instead of venting.

Elements are not interchangeable, however similar they look

Return filter elements from adjacent generations share a diameter and a thread and are still not the same part: bypass pressure, filtration rating and pleat area differ, and fitting a lower-rated element changes how the circuit is protected. This matters more than the price difference. A cheaper element that bypasses early lets contamination circulate at exactly the moment the oil is dirtiest, which is after a repair. Our references are quoted with the machine serial so the element matches the tank it came with, and never substituted across generations without saying so.

Clean oil is a maintenance decision, not a product

Filters only remove what reaches them. Oil that has never been changed, or has been topped up with the wrong grade, will not be rescued by a new element. Read the oil, service the breather and the filters on interval, and change the oil on condition rather than on the calendar where the machine has oil sampling. Hose assemblies in the tank circuit — such as YN52V01016R620 / YN52V01016R610 / YN52V01016R100 — deserve the same attention: a hose that has hardened or been chafed is a contamination source and a leak waiting to happen, and renewing it with the filters costs little while the tank is open.

Shenyue tip: quote the tank group together — return filter, breather element, suction strainer and the seals around the tank cover. Guangzhou Shenyue Machinery Technology Co., Ltd. marks each line genuine, OEM-quality or aftermarket so a machine on contract hours can be built for durability while an older unit is sensibly served by quality replacements.

How we supply

Guangzhou Shenyue Machinery Technology Co., Ltd. has specialised in Kobelco parts since 2007, with 4 warehouses over 1000 m² in Guangzhou, 3,000+ part types on the shelf and 100,000+ part numbers available to order through original supply channels. Shenyue is an independent supplier and is not an authorized dealer of Kobelco Construction Machinery Co., Ltd.; for Kobelco, Hino, Isuzu, Yanmar, Cummins, Kawasaki, Nabtesco, KYB and KPM we supply genuine parts ordered through original supply channels alongside quality replacement alternatives, at prices close to agent level, and the five brands we hold formal authorization for — Mitsubishi, Garrett, TONGMYUNG, Marusan and NIKURA — are named on every quotation. Browse hydraulic components and the filters and lubricants category, and quote by machine serial for the fastest confirmation. Component-level information published by hydraulic equipment manufacturers such as Nabtesco is a useful cross-reference when a circuit fault is being traced back to its source.

Frequently Asked Questions

How often should a Kobelco hydraulic return filter be changed?

Follow the machine's service interval, and shorten it where oil analysis shows contamination rising. Our references include LS52V01006R210 / LS52V01006R200 and YN52V01025R110 / YN52V01025R100; send the machine serial and Guangzhou Shenyue Machinery Technology Co., Ltd. confirms the element for your tank before quoting.

Can I replace the return filter only, and leave the breather?

You can, but it is a false economy. The breather is the only route by which airborne dust enters the tank, and a loaded breather element either blocks or passes contamination. The two parts protect the same oil and are normally renewed together.

My tank is under pressure when I open the cap. Is that normal?

A small residual pressure is normal in many designs, but persistent pressure usually means the breather is blocked. Check the breather element and the tank vent before looking further, because a pressurised tank pushes oil past seals that are otherwise sound.
