Reading the Tail of a Kobelco Part Number: F1, F2, F3, R-Series, S-Series and the J1B Marker

What the last characters of a Kobelco part number mean: how F1/F2/F3 assemblies differ, when an R- or S-number is the right buy, and why one bearing carries three numbers. Explained by Guangzhou Shenyue Machinery Technology Co., Ltd. with live stock examples.

C800D2016-00 / YN15V00037S116 is a service-level part inside the GM38VB travel motor family — the S in the tail is the only thing on the label that says so.

Most wrong-part claims do not begin with the wrong machine. They begin with the right machine and a base number quoted without its tail. A Kobelco part number is built in layers: a base that identifies the function, and a tail that identifies which build, which service level or which configuration the part belongs to. In the numbers Guangzhou Shenyue Machinery Technology Co., Ltd. handles every day, the tail is what decides whether the box that arrives will fit.

Four tails, four different jobs

The tail is not decoration, and it is not a software-style version counter. Each form answers a different question, and confusing them is how one hydraulic order turns into two shipments and a credit note.

F1, F2 and F3 are the same function, not the same content

Take the SK200-8 and SK210-8 travel motor. Our records list three assembly numbers for the Nabtesco GM38VB unit: YN15V00037F1, YN15V00037F2 and YN15V00037F3. All three bolt to the same track frame, all three drive the same final drive, and a buyer who quotes the base alone will usually be sent whichever tail sits deepest in the warehouse. That is not a substitute for the right answer. The tails mark running changes inside the unit, and the parts behind them diverge: a seal or a piston that suits one tail does not automatically suit the next. When the machine is down and the motor is on the bench, the tail on the plate is the number to send.

R-numbers and S-numbers: repair level versus service level

Inside that same family sit two shorter numbers that get misused constantly. 800D2103-00 and YN15V00037R420C are repair-level parts: components that live inside the assembly and are ordered when the housing is being reused. C800D2016-00 and YN15V00037S116 sit at service level — the part or kit you fit when the unit stays on the machine. The practical difference is labour, not price. Buying a repair-level component for a roadside repair usually means the machine waits for a bench that does not exist yet; buying the service-level kit for a full rebuild usually means paying twice for the same function.

The undercarriage marker: J1B and its neighbours

Undercarriage numbers carry their own convention. The SK330-8 track roller is recorded in our catalogue as 24100N7035F3J1B, with 24100N7035F3CN listed alongside it. The base identifies the roller; the J1B and CN markers identify the configuration it was built for. Rollers that look identical on a pallet can differ in flange profile, seal type or shell hardness, and the marker is the only thing on the label that separates them. Quote the marker, or expect a roller that fits the bracket but not the application. Every number we hold is findable by base or by tail in our part-number search.

Practical rule for a phone quote. Read the plate, not the parts book. If the plate is unreadable, send photographs of the assembly, the serial number and the old part side by side. Guangzhou Shenyue Machinery Technology Co., Ltd. cross-checks the tail against stock before a price is issued, rather than shipping the nearest number and sorting the difference out afterwards.

When one part carries three numbers

Some parts are marked three ways because three organisations had a say in the number. Bearing PNUP309ET / 2441U474S123 / 2437U534S123 is recorded against the K3V180, K7V125 and K7V140 pump platforms: PNUP309ET is the bearing maker's designation, and the two longer numbers are the machine-side references. Any of the three will find the part, and none of them is the only correct answer. The same layering runs through the VH and VW prefixes, where VH numbers belong to the Hino-sourced engine group and VW numbers to the Cummins-sourced group; the two groups never substitute for each other, whatever the base looks like. Kobelco's own published documentation at kobelco.co.jp remains the authority for serial-specific figures.

How to order with the tail intact

Five things belong in the first message: the model as printed on the decal, the serial number, the assembly number including its tail, a photograph of the plate, and the symptom or the reason for replacement. With those, a quotation is a lookup. Without them, it is an estimate dressed as a price. Guangzhou Shenyue Machinery Technology Co., Ltd. quotes genuine, OEM and aftermarket options separately for exactly this reason — they are three different products and should never be collapsed into one number to make a comparison look clean.

The habit worth building is simple: read to the end of the number. The base tells you what the part does. The tail tells you whether it is yours.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do YN15V00037F1, F2 and F3 all fit an SK200-8?

They are all GM38VB travel motor assemblies quoted for the SK200-8 and SK210-8 class, and they mount the same way, but the internal repair parts are not identical across the three tails. Order the tail printed on your unit; Guangzhou Shenyue Machinery Technology Co., Ltd. confirms the internal breakdown of that specific tail before shipping.

What is the difference between an R-number and an S-number?

R-numbers such as YN15V00037R420C and 800D2103-00 are repair-level components used when the assembly is stripped on a bench. S-numbers such as YN15V00037S116 and C800D2016-00 are service-level parts fitted with the unit still on the machine. Choose by the repair you are actually doing, not by price.

Are 24100N7035F3J1B and 24100N7035F3CN the same track roller?

They share the base number for the SK330-8 roller but carry different configuration markers, which can mean a different flange profile, seal type or shell specification. Treat them as related rather than identical, and quote the marker from the label on the part you are replacing.

Can you identify a part if I only have the base number?

Sometimes, but it is a guess with a shipping cost attached. Send the base number with the machine serial and a photograph of the plate, and Guangzhou Shenyue Machinery Technology Co., Ltd. will narrow the tail from stock records — 3,000+ part types are on the shelf and 100,000+ part numbers are available to order.
