Swing complaints arrive at our desk in three flavours: the house swings slower than the operator remembers, the upper structure creeps after a stop, or the swing makes a noise it did not make last month. All three get blamed on the swing motor, and in our experience roughly half of them are not motor failures at all. Ordering an M5X130 assembly because a machine swings slowly is expensive if the real fault is a pilot supply or a brake that never fully releases. The order below is how we triage swing complaints at Guangzhou Shenyue Machinery Technology Co., Ltd. before a single part is quoted.
Step one: swing only, or everything?
Before touching the swing circuit, check whether other functions have also slowed. If boom, arm and travel are all sluggish, the swing is a passenger of a wider problem — main pump output, main relief setting or a clogged suction — and the swing motor is innocent. If swing alone is slow, the fault lives in the swing-specific circuit: pilot supply to the swing joystick, the swing port relief valves, the swing brake release, or the motor and its reduction gear. That single observation eliminates half the machine before any gauge comes out.
Step two: both directions equally, or one way?
Swing that is equally slow to the left and right points at a shared restriction or a worn rotary group. Swing that is noticeably slower in one direction points at a directional element — a port relief valve set low or sticking on that side, or a pilot issue reaching one side of the joystick valve. The port reliefs are the classic disguise: one weak relief valve makes a healthy motor look worn. They are commonly quoted against the machine serial rather than a fixed number, so we confirm them from the serial before offering anything.
| Symptom | Most likely direction | What we quote if parts are needed |
|---|---|---|
| Slow both ways, worse when hot | Internal leakage in the rotary group | M5X130 internals or assembly: YN15V00077F1 / YN15V00055F1 / YN15V00035F1 (SK200-8); LC15V00022F1 M5X180 (SK330-8) |
| Slow one way only | Swing port relief on that side, or one-sided pilot | Port relief confirmed by serial — commonly quoted, not a fixed number |
| Creeps after stopping | Brake not fully releasing, or motor leakage past the brake seal | Brake seals; shaft seal XZ0531E / YN32W01081P1 on SK200 units |
| Clunk or grind on overrun | Swing reduction gear or bearing | Reduction: YN32W00025F1 / YN32W00022F2 / YN32W00019F1; AE3994A / AP3994B / YN32W01060P1 (SK200) |
| Metal in reduction oil | Gear or bearing wear already done | Reduction assembly and slewing gear YN40F01001P1 or YN40F00033F2 / YN40F00026F1 inspection |
Step three: the brake, before the motor
A swing brake that does not fully release makes the motor work against friction all day. It shows as slow swing that improves somewhat when the machine is cold, and it often pairs with a hot motor case. Pilot pressure to the brake release port is checked with a gauge at the test point; the pilot circuit guide below covers the method. Only when the brake provably releases at specification does the suspicion move to the motor itself, and at that point the oil in the reduction housing is the next witness: glitter or steel particles move the case from the motor to the gears.
Then, and only then, the motor
When the tests do point at the motor, generation discipline applies. The SK200-8 uses the M5X130 class, quoted as YN15V00077F1, YN15V00055F1 or YN15V00035F1 depending on the unit record, while the SK330-8 class moves up to the M5X180 under LC15V00022F1. The reduction side carries its own assembly numbers, listed in the table above, and a swing motor is never matched to a machine by eye alone. Machine-level specifications remain with Kobelco; Guangzhou Shenyue Machinery Technology Co., Ltd. is an independent supplier, not a Kobelco dealer.
For the deeper part-level picture, our M5X130 swing motor guide covers the SK200-8 internals, the slewing ring and centre joint intervals cover the rotation and plumbing the swing depends on, and the pilot pressure test guide shows how to read the brake release circuit. The hydraulic components range lists what we hold by system.
Frequently Asked Questions
Why does my SK200-8 swing slowly only when the oil is hot?
Oil that thins when hot increases internal leakage in the swing motor rotary group, so a machine that swings well cold and slowly hot is showing classic rotary-group wear. Guangzhou Shenyue Machinery Technology Co., Ltd. uses that cold-versus-hot pattern to decide between seals, internals and a complete assembly.
Can one weak swing port relief valve make a good motor seem worn?
Yes. A port relief set low or sticking on one side slows swing in that direction only, which is often mistaken for motor wear. We confirm port relief numbers against the machine serial rather than quoting a fixed number, because they are commonly quoted items.
What swing motor assembly fits the SK200-8?
The SK200-8 uses the M5X130-class swing motor, which our records quote under YN15V00077F1, YN15V00055F1 and YN15V00035F1. The SK330-8 moves up to the M5X180 under LC15V00022F1, and the two generations do not interchange.
What does metal glitter in the swing reduction oil mean?
It means gear or bearing wear is already under way, and the swing reduction assembly — quoted for the SK200-8 as YN32W00025F1, YN32W00022F2 or YN32W00019F1 — should be inspected before it fails under load. Guangzhou Shenyue Machinery Technology Co., Ltd. recommends an oil check whenever swing noise appears.
