Packing Kobelco Parts for Export: Crating, Rust Protection and What to Specify Before Shipping

A travel motor and a filter kit do not survive a container the same way. How heavy assemblies, machined surfaces, electronics and rubber parts should be packed, and the seven lines worth writing into the purchase order — the standard Guangzhou Shenyue Machinery Technology Co., Ltd. works to on every export shipment.

Most damaged shipments are not damaged by accident. They are damaged because the packing was chosen for the price of the part rather than for what the part is. A filter kit and a travel motor leave the same warehouse and need completely different protection, and the buyer who writes the packing requirement into the purchase order is the buyer who opens a clean crate at the other end. Guangzhou Shenyue Machinery Technology Co., Ltd. ships from Guangzhou to ports worldwide, and this is the packing standard we work to.

Pack by failure risk, not by price

Sort the order into groups, because each group fails differently in transit. Heavy cast and machined assemblies bend, crack or corrode. Precision parts lose tolerance if they strike each other. Rubber seals and gaskets age. Electronics die quietly from moisture and static. Filters and consumables are bulky and light and mostly need to arrive dry. Cab glass and body panels break. The pack is simply the answer to whichever risk the line carries.

Heavy assemblies: pumps, travel motors, swing motors

These need a crate rather than a carton, and they need blocking so they cannot move at all inside it. Three rules cover almost everything. Never let the unit rest on a machined face, a shaft end or a stud — support it on the mounting feet, or on timber that carries the load where the machine carries it. Protect every open port, thread and spline with a plug or a greased wrap, and tape it so it cannot fall out. Mark the lifting point and the weight on the crate, because an assembly lifted by its shaft on arrival is damaged before it is unpacked.

Rust, moisture and sea air

A container crossing the tropics condenses water on everything inside it. Three measures deal with that. First, do not ship bare steel against bare steel: give every machined surface a corrosion-inhibiting film or grease, and put packing paper or foam at every contact point. Second, use vapour-phase protection, because a VCI bag or liner releases a corrosion inhibitor inside the sealed volume and is far more effective than wrapping alone. Third, control moisture with desiccant sized to the sealed volume and the voyage length, not a token sachet in the corner.

Electronics, glass and rubber

Controllers, monitors, ECUs and sensors are the lines that pass a visual check and then fail in service, so they get the most care per kilogram: original boxes where possible, anti-static bags inside, a moisture barrier around that, and enough foam that nothing can move. Cab glass travels on edge in a timber frame, never flat and never stacked. Rubber seals, hoses and gaskets have a shelf life and dislike heat, sunlight and ozone, so they travel sealed, opaque and away from the container doors.

Shenyue tip: put the packing requirement on the purchase order rather than in a later email. Guangzhou Shenyue Machinery Technology Co., Ltd. photographs heavy assemblies before and after crating and keeps those photographs with the shipping documents, so a claim can be settled on evidence rather than on description; every line is declared genuine, OEM or aftermarket.

What to write on the purchase order

Seven items prevent almost every packing dispute: the part numbers and quantities; the grade of each line; the packing standard you expect for heavy items; the marking you want on the crates; whether you want photographs before the container is sealed; the port of discharge and the incoterm; and the customs description you need, starting with an accurate description of the goods and their classification. Adding these to the order costs nothing and removes the two most common causes of delay — an item that cannot be identified at the destination, and a description customs will not accept.

This is also where a supplier's export experience shows. Our storage and shelf-life guide covers how the same parts are kept before they ship and the sourcing and export guide covers the commercial side of buying from China. Buyers who also shop on our sister export sites, excavatorpartsglobal.com and corbayparts.com, will find the same packing standard behind every one of them. If you meet suppliers in person, exhibition information for Bauma China is published at b-china.cn. Send your requirement through contact with the part numbers, and Guangzhou Shenyue Machinery Technology Co., Ltd. will confirm packing and lead time together before the order is placed.

Frequently Asked Questions

How are heavy Kobelco assemblies shipped?

In timber crates with the unit blocked so that it cannot move, supported on its mounting feet rather than on a shaft or a machined face, with all ports and threads plugged and the weight and lifting point marked. A carton or a bare pallet is not adequate for a travel motor, a main pump or a swing motor weighing several hundred kilograms.

What protects parts from rust on a long sea voyage?

A corrosion-inhibiting film or grease on every machined surface, vapour-phase protection such as a VCI bag around the part, and desiccant sized to the sealed volume and the voyage length. Never ship bare steel against bare steel. A container crossing the tropics condenses water on its contents, so wrapping alone is not enough.

Do you photograph parts before shipping?

Yes. For heavy assemblies we photograph each unit before and after crating and keep the images with the shipping documents. Guangzhou Shenyue Machinery Technology Co., Ltd. documents the condition at dispatch so that any transit damage can be settled on evidence, and declares every line genuine, OEM or aftermarket.

What should be on the purchase order?

Part numbers and quantities, the grade of each line, the packing standard for heavy items, the crate marking, whether you want pre-sealing photographs, the port of discharge and incoterm, and a customs description with the goods classification. Guangzhou Shenyue Machinery Technology Co., Ltd. confirms packing and lead time from those details before the order is placed.
